About Me:
My name is Howard Krause, and I've lived a meat free lifestyle for more than seven years. I've always been interested in
creating things from scratch, and generally cook about 90% of the food that I eat. I love taking raw vegetables and grains and turning them into something delicious!
When I first started making soap, my goal was to make something myself, from scratch, that was free of all the nasty chemicals found in store bought soaps. I'll never forget my first batch of soap, and the pleasure it brought me to use it. I had made it myself and it was amazing! It left my skin feeling smooth, and my body feeling clean.
At first, I was making the soap for myself, but soon my friends and family wanted to try it. They loved it as much as I did. Everyone had a favorite, and they were soon requesting more and more! Soon they were telling their friends about it, and people were encouraging me to go into business.. That's where I'm at now.
I hope you'll browse the web page, and try my soap. If you have any questions, feel free to email me personally via the contact link or at howard@howardsvegansoap.com. Thanks!

About my soaps:
I make all natural, vegan, cold-process soaps. Now let's break that down. What does it all mean?
Starting with natural, this is a word that has gotten a lot of use lately, but it's very hard to define. Some people would argue that everything in this world is natural, and nothing can exist outside the laws of nature... That's getting a little off subject, but back to basics, my soaps are made from the purest natural ingredients. They come directly from plant sources. My oils are pure plant oils, and every bar contains a food grade exfoliate, whether it be dried basil, poppy seeds, or cinnamon bark!
My soaps are cold-process. This is the oldest and most basic way of making soap, but it's one of the reasons my soaps are so wonderful! Most companies take the basic cold-process soap and remove this and add that.. They add chemicals, detergents, etc. and have even been kown to add agents to your soap to make them deteriorate faster. The cold process involves heating up the vegetable oils, mixing in the right proportions of the remaining ingredients and pouring this mixture into molds to cool. Once they're cool, I remove them from the molds, cut them, and let them cure for an extended period of time to give me the wonderful, hard, long lasting bars of soap that I make available to you!
Now quite possibly the most important part.. My soaps are Vegan! This can be an issue for vegans, vegetarians, or just about anyone! Most soaps use ingredients like tallow or lard for their base. These are the rendered fats from different animals. Vegans and vegetarians obviously don't want to use these products, but the general public will notice that they just don't make the best soap. Oils from the coconut plant and the olive are much more moisturizing and less likely to dry your skin out!
